I like making new friends! Generally, I get along well with people who are nonplussed at the idea of doing something for purely professional reasons (as in, their intellectual enjoyment of a discipline is deeply important to them), and who are accurately calibrated to their level of competence in their domain of choice. I like building thought worlds with friends, where we share topics of interest and build shared structures of understanding together over hundreds or thousands of hours.
